Kuzminskaya Wind Farm has started supplying electricity to the grid

The Kuzminskaya Wind Farm, constructed by Rosatom, the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation, in the Stavropol Region, has started supplying electricity to the national power grid. With a installed capacity of 160 MW, the wind farm consists of 64 wind turbines. With approval from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, 68% of the wind turbine equipment is being sourced domestically within the country.

Grigoriy Nazarov, the CEO of NovaWind, the wind energy division of Rosatom, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, made the following statements regarding the matter: "Kuzminskaya is our eighth wind farm in the south of Russia and the sixth in the Stavropol Region. Despite the sanctions, we did not suspend the construction. Kuzminskaya has already supplied 100 MW of electricity to the national power grid. We managed to quickly reorganize our supply chains by replacing the withdrawn technology with Russian know-how and sourcing the necessary parts and components for our production facilities. Kuzminskaya is our first wind farm built entirely with a new supply chain that strengthens the technological sovereignty of the wind energy sector."

Vladimir Vladimirov, the Governor of the Stavropol Region, also commented on the matter: "The commissioning of Kuzminskaya, the sixth wind farm established in the Stavropol Region in the past few years, is another step in Stavropol's green energy development with Rosatom. By the end of 2023, the share of wind, solar, and hydroelectric power in Stavropol's energy mix will exceed 12%. The newly commissioned farm is our joint contribution to Russia's technological sovereignty and the decarbonization of the economy. With green energy, Stavropol is reducing its carbon footprint by 900,000 tons of greenhouse gases annually by abandoning traditional energy sources. By 2025, Stavropol will achieve a reduction of 1.3 million tons in annual carbon dioxide emissions."
